There's a strange incongruity when it comes to the dominant imagery used over the Christmas season in South Africa. Even our own street pole decorations and the majority of available Christmas paraphernalia include images of snowflakes, reindeer and the perfunctory snowman.

There are two kinds. 1: All the rage these days, fictional (we can only assume), seriously scary and usually found late at night when the fog is thick and you're wearing six-inch stilettos. 2: Not all the rage these days, non-fictional (we can only assume), seriously stupid and usually found during the day working at the license department or not - taking your call about the load-shedding schedule.

Saunders won the pitch against stiff international competition on the strength of his street-savvy "Run through Time" campaign for Adidas, which snagged the young director a bronze Loerie this year. For Ballantine's he recasts Joburg as Luanda and throws a wicked street party for Angolan superstar and brand ambassador, DJ Alves.

Arcade Content's Rob Smith was the brand film director behind the winning work in both Digital and Experiential at the Creative Circle Ad of the Month awards. Rob directed the One Rand Man Sanlam brand films, which came first in Digital and third in Experiential, as well as the brand film for the Johnnie Walker Meet Your Match campaign, which won the Experiential category. King James was behind both campaigns.

After a rather serendipitous chain of events in May 2014, through-the-line advertising agency Twyne approached us at Embassy/Snap Productions to help them with an upcoming event. The brief was straightforward: help conceptualise, develop and produce content for the 10 year anniversary celebrations for Regiments, a company specialising in capital markets, investments and real estate, assisting the public sector to effectively roll out on their infrastructure mandates. Fair enough.
