Yes, it is-
Yes Marawa is susp due to the PSL rights. I like Marawa's show alot but he did overdo it with this SABC vs SuperSport thing. Even a kid who was listening to him interviewing everybody who is anybody who is against SABC. The reason is simply now that SuperSport has the rights Marawa will work more.

So I would have also susp Marawa Posted on 19 Jun 2007 19:13

Robert stood for the truth-
Ntobeko,I think we need to look at the bigger picture here. SABC tried to fool us by saying that if you don't have a DStv you won't be able to watch soccer anymore whereas that wasn't the case. Things are changing for the better is SA, SABC used to be the wholesaler for PSL games selling these games to retailers like Supersport now its the other way round thats why they are making so much noise and misinforming the public using the taxpayers' money.Robert tried and succeeded to properly get the stories from both parties of which I think he would have done even if it was Etv which he doesn't work for.The one thing I can say to "Madl'uphuthu" wherever he is don't despair you were victimised by the incompetence of SABC management. SABC are being unprofessional in dealing with thier problems-
I believe SABC reacted in an unprofessional manner coming to Robert Marawa. The SABC should have terminated Marawa's contract also on Radio Metro Discovery Sport Centre as soon as he resigned as the anchor of SABC Sport to join Supersport as their presenter. The PSL has the right to sell their broadcasting rights to whoever they feel is offering them what they are worth and SABC was given enough time to improve their offer to PSL but they decided in not doing so. Further clarity on the issue, please get the ICASA Sports Broadcasting Rights Regulations. Robert Marawa was right to conduct an interview with both the PSL and Supersport to help the public understand the impact the deal will have on the general public. SABC should not continue to mislead the public but try to make the public aware of other avenues of acquiring the broadcasting of the PSL matches. The regulations specify which sporting events which qualifies to be listed on the free to air catagory and the PSL has adhered to those requirements because they have not sold cup finals to Supersport but will be made available to free to air licencees which leave both SABC and E-TV to compete over those rights. There is no need for SABC to waist more time but they should start negotiating with Supersport over sub-licencing for the broadcasting of the PSL matches. For the past two seasons SABC has sold the sub-licencing rights to supersport for the broadcasting of the mid-week games because they had the exclusive rights over the broadcasting of the PSL matches.

Robert should be proud of his achievements and allow the law to take its course, because he was unfairly dismissed by SABC. Posted on 20 Jun 2007 10:16

Disaponting from the SABC-
I think the SAbc is behaving like children just because they didn`t want dig up in the pockets people like Robert and us the listeners we have to suffer because of people like Dali Mpofu. That guy Dali he`s the one who should be suspended for not getting that deal not the Robert who is doing a good job for the sport loving people. Think the sholud be a pertition to see if we can get Robert back to his show.Tell me if the SABC want to host a show that is host the Idols and lost should Gereth Cliff be fired from his post at 5fm that`s unfair to us the public who are paying the TV licence that we have to suffer because people like Dali Mpofu don`t do they jobs right.Brink Roert back and fire Dali. Now the show is boring the is no longer that fire from the show.THanks Posted on 20 Jun 2007 10:32

heads must roll-
It is clear that SABC did not see this coming, in their wildest dream they have never seen them having to sub-license from any local broadcasting company in this level of magnitude, thus management was always relaxed about it and never saw the need to even plan properly for an open bidding exercise. To their shock this has happened and they are trying all they can to cover up their mess and I must say in no court in land they can win this case, Advocate Mpofu must accept the blunder and start negotiating better deals with Supersport there are no ways around it. It's just unfortunate that their poor management will cost SABC so much money and loss of revenue and possibly some viewership.
I suspect some heads will roll here, this is a big blunder, no wonder they have embarked in trying to get the public sympathy. I do not think it's going to get them too far either.
SA is a free country and we embark on compoetitive bidding as well, SABC must just get that clear before they waiste us too much time and their money. Posted on 20 Jun 2007 10:40
What happened to the public's right to know?-
Robert was doing what any self-respecting journo would do and that is offer both parties a chance to present their cases. It turns out that the SABC was lying to the public and were humiliated when Robert ousted them. Aluta Continua Robert! Keep strong brother. Posted on 20 Jun 2007 11:44

True That-
I say "AMEN" to that.
I mean the SABC turns everybody against the PSL and feed us propaganda (politicians!) that they are representing us (and our interests) whereas they were selling games (midweek) that were intended for us (the masses). Thanks to Robert we got all the facts from the parties involved and can now comment on facts rather that rumours. Posted on 20 Jun 2007 20:13

Marawa-
I think the SABC is thinking backwards, they have gone on a propaganda campaign reminiscent of the old SAUK, trying to convinve the public that the supersport deal is robing us. Well we are not so gullible anymore... i think e-tv should buy the licensing rightes from supersport and shut the SABC out of soccer all together.
Rob good luck, we support you!!! Posted on 20 Jun 2007 12:01

I HATED MARAWA AND HAD HIM FIRED-
Rob "mara why" Marawa, was a pain in my ears, now that he is fired i feel like I am the Boss of the SABC, he is so defencive to one uneducated football player called Benni. i did not like the way he was pushing us as listeners to perceive our SAFA as wrong, by failing to appologize to Benni. now I feel like "I have fired him" Posted on 20 Jun 2007 14:59

Sour Grapes-
In a world with so much drama, I fail to understand your mentality behind the statement you made. Learn to express your opinions in a polite manner.

Please keep your beef to yourself before you are diagnose with gout.

Learn to appreciate success.Marawa is a sign off success.

Thank you Posted on 21 Jun 2007 11:28

Very arrogant and selfish -comment-
Vincent i will tell you straight you are a very cruel chap and cant stand your comment of being happy when Robert is kicked out for the truth. Macarthy's issue is still pending and clarity is needed. Remember Benny is a top class player and by Robert wanting clarity he never meant to push SAFA to apologise. You are very cruel and insensitive my brother. To you Robert we are on your side and Dali Mpofu wont last for ever i promise you. That Dali is arrogant and selfish himself Posted on 27 Jun 2007 09:21

I need Marawa back!!!-
Radio or rather sports centre will never be the same without Robert. SABC must just bring Robert Back before we take action OR else we suspend the programme as listeners. How childish can one get, please SABC grow and offer your listeners the best!
Marawa should be back!!!!Ka swele! Posted on 20 Jun 2007 19:15

What a shame-
It's such a pity that Africans always pull each other down. Can SABC/METRO afford to fire Marawa? Will they ever find a Presenter of Roberts Calibre??? I have stopped listening to the Discovery Sport centre. Hope Discovery pulls out of the deal. To Rob i say Go, Glow and Grow. Posted on 20 Jun 2007 21:22

Dali and Mvuzo must be ashamed of themselves-
I think Dali and Mvuzo are a shame. Boxing in
South Africa died when Dali was heading
BSA and now since Peter left because of
Snuki, Dali has taken SABC into
the shambles. I come from the same
town as Mvuzo, I personally think he
is a disgrace. As head of content
at the SABC, Mvuzo has not added anything
of value to the SABC. The only thing he
is quick to do is to run to the sports
portfolio in Cape Town to complain.
The two (Dali and Mvuzo) must learn that
in the corporate world you must be able
to take decisions quickly. Posted on 21 Jun 2007 11:17

Incompetence management at SABC-
What happened to Marawa is not about the rights given to SuperSport, the SABC management is clearly showing how incompetent they are by firing the man who presented one show that was attracting the football audience. I salute you Marawa for the job well done to the South African public. As Kabelo sings that "You can't put a great man down" walk tall.
South African football is part of the global world and it is about time that they start conducting it like a true professional. I'm very disappointed in Dali's leadership. Posted on 21 Jun 2007 14:50

BRING BACK MADLUPHUTHU-
MAY BE IT IS THE ADVOCATE THAT NEEDS MARCHING ORDERS FOR FAILING TO RETAIN THE RIGHTS. IF THE PSL WAS HAPPY WITH THEIR SERVICE THEY COULD HAVE STAYED WITH THEM. THEY MUST USE THEIR TIME AND ENERGY AND BUY THE RIGHTS FROM SUPER SPORT AS EVERYONE ELSE INCLUDING ETV.MARAWA IS JUST ON THE PATH OF INCOPETENT PEOPLE LIKE DALI AND MVUZO. THE SHOW WILL NEVER BE THE SAME WITHOUT HIM, THE SABC IS FAILING TO RETAIN GOOD PEOPLE THIS IS THE SAME STORY WITH THE LIKES OF GIVEN MKARI.IF THE CALL WAS FOR METRO FM TO MAKE MAYBE THEY COULD HAVE FIND AWAY AROUND THIS MATTER. Emotional Sisies !!!-
Can somebody, somewhere somehow tell us what exactly is going and we want to hear both sides of the story (like we always get it on the "Discovery's Sports Center").
we dont want to hear things like "the matter is still subjudicare (however that is spelt)" so that we can make up our minds as to who is wrong and who's not.
My bet is the SABC is emotional (sisies!) Posted on 21 Jun 2007 17:40

Let us be practical-
Let us be practical here, SABC & SuperSport are competing how can Marawa use SABC to defend SuperSport? No I disagree with you people, I like Marawa & I love Discovery Sport Center but I saw it come.

& Rommie Tuitus (never mind my spelling) I think she is doing justice to the show. She will never be Marawa but she can only get better from here. Marawa has nobody to blame but himself. Posted on 21 Jun 2007 19:21

Dali is a failure!!!-
To look at this matter objectively and be honest to ourselves and reasoned is that SABC management has failed the massess. If you can't retain the best that you have & decide to chase them away then that brings only doubts.Dali announced that they can match the offer of SuperSport but they won't be forced to over-pay for televising football, then tell me why is he crying that PSL must reconsider???
If I was Dali I would try by all means retain Marawa skills so that we don't lose more audience & shame he did the opposite. There is a difference when you get a job on merit or you get it because of political connections))) Posted on 22 Jun 2007 08:31

SABC is wrong...-
Majority of the people don't have access to DSTV as compared to SABC, hence SABC wanted the public to hear only their side of the story. And i'm ashamed to listen to a broadcaster that promotes its journalists to be biased when the matters involves them. Marawa did a very good job , i mean he brought PSL to explain their story, then the big-headed SABC, then followed Supersport(wrong move according to SABC). SABC's going to hide behind "Conflict of Interest" as the reason for suspending the man, but i can tell you if this is wrong, then to hell with SABC. Posted on 22 Jun 2007 11:29
