Get the community involved. It is theirs after all. They will also have a sense of ownership about the event. I am dissapointed with the responses above. Its a pity that some people use this forum to push their business deals. What happened to just helping each other without expecting anything in return? People "sibusisiwe isandla eziphayo kunesamukelayo" I hope you understand Zulu. Having an even plan will do wonders. There are number of things you need to establish: like the budget, the target and meaning (outcome)of the event, these are very important. Involve the community service providers eg the municipality, the leaders (include inkosi yendawo), the schools, Community / Faith based organizations and the relevant government departments; provincial and national.
Once you have established the above you can start working on your plan. And also you can make it a competition, now that will get your community involved, you will get ideas that work for your people. HAVE FUN AT IT & WITH IT...WISHING YOU ALL THE LUCK!
