Affirmative action and Black empowerment in the media by Angelface
If we are doing the same subject, Bongi needs to write about the challenges faced by the South African media in implementing affirmative action and black empowerment... A (mac46com@yahoo.co.uk)
Bongi, if you want to find out everything you need to know about affirmative action in the SA media landscape, you need to begin by speaking to people who work in the media. Try the Forum of Black Journalists (FBJ), the South African Editors Forum (SANEF), and the editors of such publications as the Mail & Guardian, the Sowetan, City Press, and O Magazine. Just e-mail them or call them up, say you're a media studies student, and ask if you can get their expert opinion. You'll find that most people in the media are very willing to speak about such matters. Then try the Journalism departments of Wits University, Stellenbosch, and Rhodes, for some independent academic viewpoints. You need to get out into the real world to get your answers, because you won't get them online. Good luck with your assignment.
