"Complain until you are red in the face," I quote  by  Get Creative
What government? How about we look at all the departments.
Health: Mix Garlic with Beetroot and Cabbage lady stuffed everything up, but hey let us move her to the Presidency where she will do more damage.
Education: I'm Pandoring if I can recite the school study ethic code, perhaps not
Arts and Culture: What's that, the country has so much to offer, but I suppose we cannot pay much attention to that when we have murder, rape, major stealing from the state coffers and political bullying to contend with
What's that department again? something to do with traffic departments/ police etc, okay, can't remember, want a licence buddy? There's a one year waiting list, let's make that 2 years, to factor in the number of times you might have to rewrite your learners, get appointments, do fruitless driving tests and maybe you might be legal or maybe not
Justice: If there's any justice in this world, Judge Presidents would not be pissing all over the legal system
Environmental Affairs: All the snoek for parliamentarians bottoms, yeah sure we'll give the fisherfolk the leftovers... Ohhh, let us put quotas on, let them starve, but we will pencil in that it was done in the name of conservation, but don't forget that I want Kingklip and Prawns when my family is eating out over the weekend. The irony of it all...
Can't go on.. everything has turned into a bowl of shit.

Where is the Goverment???  by  Mina
Can someone introduce the Government to the people. I dont think we have one. The last goverment was with TATU Madiba.
We all compalin about apartheid but i feel that there would have been no nonsense like this if the white government was here. The so called Goverment knew that this was bound to happen, but what did they do, follow Eskom, Mugabe and now we are facing a crisis that wont end now, and people are loosing their lives because of some people who live in surbubs and have hundreds body guards beside them. and what about the poor??????
Government has really failed us BIG TIME!!!!!

Rwanda EQUALS SA  by  Ponts'o
What happened in Rwanda.Attacks on the minority group started on a small scale, noone acted, eventually over 800 000 people were murdered. The fact that the people affected come from outside the "borders of SA" doesnt make what's happening any less acceptable. This are the same people who housed those very people in government during the regime. The war in Mozambique, Angola, Lesotho and others wouldnt have occurred if our fellow Africans dint accomodate us. It's saddening.Especially more disappointing is the government. They have ruined all ties with the rest of Africa, we'll c where they'll go when "s@#$ hits home!

Buy me a plane ticket instead!  by  AA A LAUGH
That is what our "leaders" are doing. Empty promises to the voting public and now the disgruntled voter has taken the law into its own hands! Both Mbeki & Zuma are "out of town fishing" whilst the ones who trusted and believed they would make life just a little easier for them are missing in action. Watching individuals looting the foreigners shops makes me feel so disgusted at how we treat our fellow africans. These foreigners worked and carved their own careers without taking our jobs! It is their survival. Shamelessly they (thugs) scatter with others' belongings and why not? Their leaders are "flying high" on tax payers money! If the government can take...

Yes, Mbeki should realise this all stems from him supporting Mugabe and from his failure to act.  by  cars
If Mbeki acted against Mgube, then South Africa would have been seen in better light by the world. The fact that Mugabe has been protected by the ANC government has failed the Real South Africans. The borders are open to all the African people and our people suffer?? It has become a country run by reversed apartheid and incompetent people. Good luck to the white South Africans. In 1994 all people were promised housing and jobs, now there is more violence than ever and no competent police force. I called my domestic yesterday -(she is South African) and she was in tears as she was afraid to go outside... All the good guys have been told they need to fall into the BEE classing to qualify for a job but qualified or not if they are BEE compliant they get the work but the white qualified person cannot apply. I am an engineer that could not get work in SA as I was white and just over 40, but Aussie loves us and pays us for what we are worth adn our kids are safe and have a fair go in life. This is not what anti-apartheid meant when the NP sold us out! Shame on the ANC government for putting its people in this situation. Signed: I was a loyal ex-South African who luckily bought a ticket to Australia a year ago.

Crisis where exactly?......  by  casper
Yes the government failed the low class south african, first the president says the is no crisis in Zim... the next thing he's sending the SADF to sort out south african i guess south african has a crisis i wonder why, because our neighboring countries don't have one, how can the government issue statements like you must learn to live with illegal Immigrant unless illegal means something different to the government but if the people feel affected by this illegals believe it or not south african will act in the way the think it's best for them.....

Government has failed
Not only has communication failed but Government itself has failed. I am especially disappointed in our president. What purpose does he fulfill? Is he merely just a puppet that plays to other people's strings? I no longer look up to him (not that I did much in the past). Winnie was the only politician to care and put a human face to the empathy felt by the country. I applaud her for going where most politicians failed and for once again showing why she has been called the 'mother of the nation'. We need more politicians like her who look beyond herself and care for the people. Good bye Thabo the tribe has spoken and you have been voted off!

Not Only Govt many other influential role players (Media) too  by  Les
The attacks started last year in CT and we are only feeling it now. I would imagine that the focus was on Limpopo and nothing else hence we couldn't realize and perhaps deal with Xenophobia when it started. Even the media was so swamp with Limpopo. I am sure every reasonable man condemns these attacks

Lets take a holistic approach on this issue  by  Fellow South African
We know that most goverments are not poerfect or even close to it. Our goverment(democratic goverment)is in power for only 14 years and has done so much for this country. South Africans are able to voice their views and concerns on an open platform and they now get heard. Our goverment are tackling issues like Aids, foreign investment, unemployment and even mediating matters relating to foreign issues in Africa and all this is being seen by the international community from all angles. Remember we are still a 3rd world country and we still have a lot to learn. We fall on our face, but always get up again. Yes their has been xenophobic attacks, and perhaps if the goverment took a different approach the outcome might have been different, This do not make the goverment a failure. Lets all try and get off our high horses and assist the Goverment where we can and voice our concerns on a platform where we will be heard and tackle this issue.

From your fellow South Africans

Government didn't fail, our leaders failed!  by  Simon
When xenophobia intensified in Alex, the leaders should have immediatelly condemned it, but due to their complacency, this encouraged similar events after that. But I have a feeling in my heart all things will be well although the damage caused is inexcusable.

Yes, the government has failed  by  bubbles
the govt has failed dismally first it was the energy crisis and now it is xenophobia, What worries me is that they were aware of these incidencies but did not act in time to prevent this.During the apartheid era there were state of emergerncies and curfews of which if they were implemented in this xenophobia issue ,the situation would not have gone this far.I think these were the results of Mbeki and Mugabe,s 8hr meeting. what were these guys discussing?

There are still doing nothing about it, they have arrested some of the attackers but most of them are out on bail. they must look at the main reason about this situation. if it is about crime why don't they also target nigerians.

Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!
Yes its the governments fault, and the leaders in particular. That idiot Thabo Mbeki said in one of his speeches, "Let us welcome our foreign guests". Since when has this country become a hotel where immigrants can just come and go as they please! The reality of the situation is that this country has indeed become the hotel of Africa.

By allowing immigrants to just walts into this country when they want, it is creating a problem which in turn as lead to these attacks. Our own people are suffering also! What about them?! A crisis has been looming on the horizon for a while now, but yet the government keeps allowing more and more immigrants in and thus the problems have escalated.

These attacks are exremelly brutal and barbaric and I definately don't condone them, but should we not be looking out for the well being of our own people more? This government and our leaders could possibly be the most stupid and pathetic government in history.

All they do is talk and talk and then talk some more. The general public are the ones who are taking action to try and relieve this crisis and are doing a much better job than this so called government is.

Our poor young South African Government  by  nolo
Mbekhi should stop acting stupid and stop sweeping major political and social problems under the rug. His biggest blunders is that he likes pretending that all is well, when its not and he ends up looking like a joke and then he probably wonders why people in government are disrespecting him and now Zuma will be and Zuma is winning because he plays on Thabo Mbekhi's blunders.

Thabo Mbekhi must start acting like leader and tell things like they are or cut his losses and quit while he is still ahead, his method off hiding important facts hasn't proven to be helping at all.

Something to think about! -Xenophobic  by  Fourman
Imagine one day your father brought home a street kid and he called the family together to explain the need of that kid. He also explain that you (as his children) are the best thing on earth. After 2 years, the same kid, develop the bad habit of wearing your cloths, sharing your staff with you, cheat with your partner... WHAT WILL YOU DO? I guess you will talk to the kid or talk to your father. On top of everything your father told you (as a family) that he will build an outside building for this street kid... AGAIN, WHAT WILL YOU DO? THINK ABOUT... I believe that is what happening in SA About Xenophobic....
