I have been using the 3G offering from MTN/Italk for the past 14months. It costs me R478 pm for a 2G package and it must be the worst deal I have signed in my life. The ITALK sales person did not even know: 1. The USB modem was an option 2. He could not direct me to his office in Belville. 3. I had to call him so many times I have lost count. As for the service, watch out as I was told that you cannot cap your usuage and you have to call the 258 number at a cost to see what bandwidth you have available. If you go over your monthly allocation, this can become very expensive as I found out last year. The speed in my area, Maitland is atrocious, virtually non existent. You call ITALK and they shove you to MTN. I have had more joy with the old fashion dial up from telkom. Slow but far more reliable than MTN 3G. I was promised call backs from the ITALK staff in Durban and more than a year later, no call. I have signed a 2year contract and guess what, I have to pay this even though I have very little service from both ITALK and MTN on the 3G internet package. All this means that I bought an internet package that will cost me R11472.00 and I get very little joy from this. It does work from time to time, but let's you down when you need it most.
I will not advise anyone to sign for a MTN-ITALK 3G package. You will regret it.
This isn't broadband for less, - it is by morpheus
well actually these modems are the Latest & Faster E270 huawei HSUPA modem not vodacoms older e220 and more importantly, i checked vodacom's rate: http://www.vodacom.co.za/services/mobile_data/vodacom_what_cost.jsp
although they're capped to 2Gb, their monthly subscriptions are still much cheaper.
