Soapies should not be real life stuff.  by  soapiewriter
I am a writer myself. If a person wants real life TV Drama, he must stay away from soapies. That is what they are: A big fat fantacy world. They are there to entertain us. Some are a bit / a lot westernized. I think it is that angle that makes them appeal to all South Africans. The soapie I am writing now mixes the western world with african ways. I enjoy soapies. The thought of something extraordinary happening thrills me. Things that don't happen in this world.

SA soaps are westernised.  by  hate sa soapies
oh yes there are so westernised its irritating, blacks behaving like whites, puke. Mavhango is so African.
As for the person that says that soapies are not suppose to be real but stuff of fantasy, who says behaving like a westerner is a fantasy, its actaully happening and why should an African's fantasy be westernised, can't it be an African fantasy?

soapies are fantacies  by  Teekay
That's the aim of soapies so that people would escape from a real world and start fantacizing it release the stress and SA soapies are very much westernised. our soapies have the same story line as the bold and the beautiful and days of our lives everyone is taking someone slse's man or woman.

Constructive critisizm please! - if not then Y bother..?  by  Bingo
Okay- very simple- we can never force anyone to support South African soapies. If anyone does not approve of anything the writer's come up with. then i think they should address the issue alongside with solutions as to what precisely they would prefer... If you want to criticise and not have any ideas- watsoeva, then why bother...? I don't care if SA Soapie are westernised or not.

If they entertain, and reach its key target to set the fantacy atmosphere then let it be. TOO many audience nowadays watch TV just to have a say- and to spot the wrongs.

You can never enjoy watching soapies/or any TV programmes, if you keep putting your negative minds to it. "I mean really!" you cannot buy ice-cream and already you've anticipated a bad, sour taste.. offcos it won't taste good!" bcos u put ur mind to it.

if ur'e an audient dat really sucks- and all u do is criticize to every programme u watch(regardless of which). then i thinkn you should throw ur TV's away!!!! read news papers or sumthing there r many ways to entertain yourselves!!!

cheers
