Brilliant, but is it a cost saving measure?  by  Aries
It's grown on me, at first it was confusing and I thought I had sat on the remote. The snaky seat belt is a bit creepy though, looks like a cobra in a basket.
I can't wait to see ad sharing between say Eskom and Lion match, or between Nationwide and Greyhound.

Smart  by  quarkum
I liked the thinking a lot. Apparently the new Corsa has an integrated bicycle carrier, so the link makes sense. But it's more about zoning in on a shared target market. Opel have clearly defined their intended drivers very well [young, energetic, sporty], and from there it's a short hop to wonder who else is talking to those same people. It especially makes good sense since it's a long-awaited launch of the new model and the joint ad gives great stand-out value.

Sorry, but I find it confusing
I think it is too clever for itself. As usual with a lot of advertising these days, I have no clue what you want me to know. There are thousands of messages that I am being bombarded with. Make it clear, simple and to the point. I am busy and have things to do. I don't have the time to try and figure out what you want me to know.

Interesting Concept, but...  by  Jess
I have been trying to figure out for some time why the two brands decided to merge. They don't share an obvious synergy (say, if Energade was 'sharing' with a gym, or Corsa 'sharing' with a tyre brand) but it does work... I think... umm.. almost?

First reaction being - they did it to save shooting costs. Or the creatives ran outta ideas and jumped on the JV bandwagon?

It's weird, mindboggling in fact. Stil going to get my head around it.

Oh, that and the BMW M3 ad - I'm no idiot, nor a MENSA candidate, but I just dont get it!!??

BMW M3 AD  by  Shaunocerous
I think this is a great add too.

It Impresses on the viewer the power of this car . .. so much power that you may even have to endure "NASA-type-training" to withstand its G-forces

I think there are times though, where marketing genius does escape all but those who created it. . . It's at those times I feel it's the final delivery of the concept and not the concept itself which fails to deliver the punchline.

AHA epiphany  by  Jess
I think you just worked it out for me! thanks for putting me out of my confused misery - next time it comes on, I'm telling EVERYONE in the room what the ad is about.

Thanks!

Oh, and with regards to the Corsa Ad Sharing - watch this space cause I've just written an entire press release on it! After posting on the forum yesterday - the press release request dropped in my lap! Bizarre!

ABSOLUTE GENIUS  by  Shaunocerous
This is the cleverest advertising Ive ever seen . . . I dont like Opel, infact they're more known as "fantastic plastic" than anything else. But their ads reach and appeal to very specific people.

For example: Channel O & Opel . . . slogan "The new opel knows who it wants" . . . conclusion . . . the new opel was designed specifically for Channel O viewers/Listeners

2.) Energade & Opel . . . designed specifically for the sporty folks . . . this car is for you and no-one else . . .

VERY WELL THOUGHT OUT.

Clever, but...  by  Bob Smith
It might be a clever idea merging the two brands, however, I don't watch channel o nor am I a cyclist who drinks energade, but I am in the market for a new car. But now this ad is basically telling me that I don't deserve to go and buy a new opel corsa because either I am A - not fit enough, or B - not cool enough to enjoy channel o. Someone else mentioned the combining of brands was clever but maybe they should relate more to each other. I never watch channel O and I don't own a bicycle, so now Im going to look else where for a new car. Opel just lost a purchase, and it's a pity because I think the new corsa is very nice.
