Sorry to play the man

dj salaries
mansfiled still remains the highest paid radio dj on the local scene. the guy was earning R1M in 2000 so you can imagine what he is raking in right now.

glen lewis is also ranked high up there, was pulling in R70K in 2006 so you can imagine.

id say the standings right now are:

1. Mansfield (R150K)
2. Alex Jay (R100K)
3. Glen lewis (R80K)
4. Fresh (R80K)
5. Gareth Cliff (R70K)
6. DJ Sbu (R60K)
7. Phat Joe (R60K)
8. Bad Boy (R60K)

darren scott  by  Cyril
What about Darren Scott?

He flies between Durban and Joburg daily in his private jet.

...a tiny jet costs R10k an hour to run, never mind airport fees etc. How much must he be earning to justify two to three hours of flying every day?

What about Marawa?  by  Shobza
Guys, I don't see Robert Marawa on this list does that mean Bad Boy & Glen earn more than him?Robert's show is so big I think its the biggest in SA even the other stations know that.SABS tried to fire him last year but it didn't work,I wonder what changed their minds was it the listeners'complaints or may be they also know that the show will die without like the SoccerZone on SABC 1 they can't even get a sponsor MTN pulled out when SABC failed to lure Marawa back.I really think he should be among the Top 10 earners in SA Radio.

The thing about radio...  by  Nana
Radio is a fickle medium. I'm at an age where I don't like listening to Yfm and I just never switch the dial. The last time I listened to Y was when Fresh did the morning show and as far as I am concerned It will never be the same. Besides, I hate Sbu's -I-NEED-TO-COUGH-VOICE.

Since Fresh left I started listening to Aza in the morning on Metro and I seriously love Metro - Thomas rocks the morning slot - you won't believe the number of people I pass in the morning and afternoon singing along to the same songs I am. NUFF SAID.

I didn't follow Fresh to 5 cause 5 just ain't my thing - I mean I like black people to sound black - and Poppy, Mlu and Elana are just not that black - so I'll pass. I like kwaito, house rnb and hip-hop not mixed with rock - thank you very much.

Quite frankly, I don't care how much DJ's earn - it doesn't make them a better presenter.

By the way - next time you feel the urge to express your opinion on a public forum like this - you might want to do a spell check! I like black people to be able to spell - afteralll we did so many spelling tests at our township schools.

Black people to sound black  by  Black
You are so ignorant , what is sounding black and what is sounding white , you still stuck in the days of what separate us . Fool !

No, you are the one stuck in the past!
What I mean is that yes, our parents paid money for us to go to better schools but that doesn't mean we have to sound white to pass. Speak the English but don't change your accent.

BTW, do not resort to name calling, I'm sure you were taught better than that!

Shoooo Black
You still didn't bother spell checking when insulting the other scribe. Commas and periods come just after your last word, like this, and not after a space . No. You took the black race back 10 steps with your name calling and lack of grammar skills - placing a punctuation mark in the right place - Standard 1.

You know, people only resort to name calling when they have nothing intelligent to say. Don't embarrass yourself, don't respond - lest you make another grammatical error.

PERIODS???
How can you pretend to be all knowledgable about punctuation and then use an American word like period instead of gull stop? This is not America. Thank goodness.
