Having recently been exposed to the inner workings of MTN, the "YELLO Monster", I must say that "they", that is all managers, marketing and decision makers, are all a bunch of conservative, uneducated, narrowminded BIGGOTS. They don't know how to take risks or view "comparative ads" as a compliment, and just let it be. After all, when someone copies you, isn't this the biggest compliment ? But you would need a certain amount of inteligence to view the bigger picture rather than a tunnel point off view! Now ask yourself, why are all the "NEW" ads so mediocre?
LOL! So i'm not the only one who thinks the Vodacom meerkat needs to be shipped off to the Vodacom Advertising archive..? Who came up with that crap anyway?? As a Vodacom subscriber, it makes me flinch and sometimes consider my options...
Nandos use to come up with some crazy fun stuff, what happened, I ask. KFC and all other crappy chicks out there are no longer scared of Nandos. Now they go and steal other kids' intellectual property....that's so wrong, get a life Nandos before you become, amaNandos......
I don't think that MTN truly sees the value of this kind of dual advertising. If anything this puts a positive spin on their brand. Livens it up a bit. Besides that - everyone eating Nando's is thinking of MTN while doing it. Really silly to have the campaign pulled.
MTN need to spice up their attitude... I agree with the comment by apn - MTN would have benefited hugely from the ad because it makes the reader think "MTN". And just because the ad is a humorous jab at MTN doesn't make it unoriginal either. In fact, I think it's genius! MTN are a "peri serious" bunch, aren't they?
Bottom line is MTN is a cellphone service provider...Nando's sells chicken...Where is the threat there? And another thing, since when do MTN own the colour Yellow? Just a thought.
YELLO CHICKENS! MTN truly sucks big time! There is another route you could have taken, and you know it. A route that would not only have exposed NANDO'S , but would have also brought you big profits. SIES!!
