Dealing with absenteeism
Enjoyed your article.
Most employers have become complacent about absenteeism, and your suggestion to "plan for it" is an indication of this thinking!
The costs of absenteeism are shocking, and can harm a business if not managed effectively.

In my opinion, finding CRM duplicates is relatively well understood.

The greater challenge is how to manage them once identified and minimize the human intervention required to identify the best (golden) record and then merge 1:1 data and re-align 1:M data before retiring the duplicates.

To overcome these challenges we have built deduplication and merging technology for CRM's and databases so that businesses can capitalize on higher quality data and minimize costly human intervention.

First off what a pleasure to read a well crafted (no pun) article such as yours, really an enjoyable and flowing piece.

With this predicament of pricing, stemming ultimately from high costs, I would always present the opportunity to 'collaborate'. My favourite marketing author of all time, Andy Davis, describes the benefits in terms of 'a rising tide lifts all ships'.

Whilst the idea of several breweries in Cape Town utilising a single location to create their masterpieces may restrict somewhat the job creation, this solution can be viewed perhaps as an 'Incubation Facility' whilst the go-getters build a following, their credibility and relationships with stockists and suppliers alike, until ready to fly the nest and invest in their own facilities.

Im not aware if SAB or the like have such initiatives in place, I can certainly say though that it would give a lot of these small scale brewers some great forward movement, expertise lending and that key cost reduction they need to keep the snowball rolling.

Just my two cents...

Operation Phakisa - from a Sesotho word, which means "Hurry Up." but actually it means that Jacob Zuma has only the present term as the President of South Africa which is his last and therefore he and his family have to hurry up with the looting of the taxpayer's money before his term ends in 2019.

I really like this! Branding should be all about who you are, what you stand for and how serious you are about doing what you do [how sustainable your business wants to be]. Your logo to some extent should encapsulate that. When people encounter your logo it should remind them of lots more than just what you sell!

Purge continues at Independent Media
As an insider working at the independent group it is a sad, sad time for everyone. The best people have already left and what few remain are simply trying to find a way to find work elsewhere. Circulations have dropped and the only people left are inexperienced or without options. It is inevitable that some great newspapers are going to close sooner rather than later and the South African landscape will be poorer for it. Internal intimidation is rife. However, the good news is that the demise of the IN group surely leaves a gap for a credible publication that could take advantage of the amazing talent out there looking for a job. In everything, even this, there is opportunity.

I really dont see why we have to be judgemental of this. SABC has been under pressure for such a long time and that affected the employees directly. we receive such a great service from sabc even though they were under such difficulty. I believe this is to boost employee moral and i say its well deserved.

Dogs can get their love and Epol
The Epol factory in Pretoria West upsets me. The dogs they use as security (Alsatians and Rottweilers) are left to run in cement "passages" all around the outside of the premises. They have a little roof to sit under, but we all know Pretoria heat in the summer. No grass, and just not the way to treat an animal as far as I am concerned. I wouldn't support their brand.
