Edcon bids farewell to Boardmans and Red Square brands
Cutting to grow is a typical approach to growth as short to medium strategy....wonder what focus will be placed on replacing the mindset, deadwood and super long tenure members at HQ? This element will talk to mid to long term sustainability, creativity and dynamism.

Unaccounted water costs must be included in IRP
Some days before i read a news from Pakistan that they had successfully targeted the coal trap in the area of Thar, but while following in detail I got that it is in huge amount but according to its quality it contains a huge amount of water and according to news they are going to use it for the making of Electricity, but as it contains a large amount of water and its not of good quality, therefore, produce less amount of electricity and huge amount of pollution, according to environmentalist it is not going to be good for environment of the rest of the world.

Petrol increase and tourism - how much trouble are we in?
We are in much bigger trouble as what many of us realise! Everything in the economy and country will just get worse! African political leaders cannot run a country as proven over and over again!

Samsung to merge two major units
It's a strategic move that Samsung is taking to combine these 2 business units and hopefully it will pay off for them when they start to streamline their facilities to accommodate the chance in scope. And of course, we will only know in time if this move was right when they start to look at the new solutions and profit-margins of the business units at the end of the year...

Four creative ways self-storage units can be used for business
You'd be surprised at how a lot of companies are using self storage units for things other than storage solutions. I mean, I've read about some companies that actually operate out of self storage units in some towns and cities too! It was actually a rather interesting article! Some people had a mini gym, or even a home office in a self storage unit. They would come in once in a while to get exercise or work done and then lock up and leave! Really interesting ideas to think about!

Investors eager for Stor-Age
When I first opened up my business for self storage in Inner West, I was actually rather worried about the whole thing because I was a new manager opening up my first business. Now I understand why there are so many investors interested in the whole industry of renting out self storage units though and see that I should have been more confident! I really do think that there is just so much potential with this industry!

2017 Access Co-Development Facility competition deadline extended
I wonder why the deadline has been extended. Could it be that there are not enough businesses that are thinking of applying to the competition? I would imagine that with the "prize" of this competition, that a lot of start-ups would jump at the chance to leverage themselves using the sponsors prestige and existing services to make the price of their energy storage and production ideas all the more cost-effective!

R400m facelift for central Joburg transport hub
I imagine that the citizens here would be glad to see the infrastructure facilities for the transport network being enhanced with this new facility. Especially for businesses that make use of some of the logistics services that go through this particular facility, having everything upgraded here might mean a shorter time line and more efficient processing once the whole centre has been completed. I bet they are all looking forward to the changes!

Choosing the best office space for your startup
I actually think that choosing a new office when you're a start-up can be a terribly bad idea. These days with all the options for co-working space so that you can save on your overheads like rental and storage, you should try to leverage on these until you are absolutely sure that you can afford a permanent office to house your employees. If you don't even have that many people working for you at the moment, there are plenty of other solutions...

Bringing quality manufacturing home with HOM
It takes a lot to really build up the impact of a brand and make it desirable. Just think of what Apple has done. The reason why they hardly ever have units of their new mobile phones left inside self storage units that get shipped all over the world, is because they are the experts of advertising and selling their product! hopefully the House of Monatic will find their niche and be able to fit the market with their own special brand, in their own special way before long!

You're paying more for less when it comes to medical aid. Here's why
As ageing seniors with some hospital experiences the mysterious charges are real. I have had to query mysterious charges after each and every hospital and some specialists visits and received credits for every one. My impression is that they have taken over from unscrupulous used car dealers.

Agricultural commodity prices expected to remain low globally says OECD-FAO
Agriculture is not a sector it is a industry! It seems that these organisation will just never understand that food security can only be achievable and sustainable if the production of food is profitable. Higher production efficiency (productivity) alone will eventually produces surpluses while small scale and subsistence farmers will suffer for ever, as proven, because the input/output price ratio, ie the changes in the prices that farmers pay for their inputs and the changes in the prices that they receive for their products is most of the time negative and will not improve food security. Higher production and lower demand has always been one of the biggest problems in the industry!
