If we can change our world ... why can't we change our perceptions of people with Head Injuries? Posted on 18 Jul 2012 15:23
Who are the Mommy Bloggers?
''A force to be recognised with, by all accounts'' does not constitute a complete sentence. ''PR's'' really? Do you mean PRPs (Public Relations Practitioners)? By ''these potential champions'' which you say marketers, et al should recognise, do you mean 'mom bloggers'? If the answer is 'yes' then I guess your opinion piece suggests that there are no moms who are PRPs, marketers or distributors and that current marketers, et al cannot blog--a suggestion that I consider to be quite silly. Women do not have a monopoly to blogging, facebook, etc. as marketing tools. There is no relevance whatsoever between motherhood and communications profession/activities such as increasing market-share. In light of the above and by extension, the whole article (opinion piece), this piece of writing is factually incorrect, grammatically inaccurate and plain irrelevant to a decent, professional platform such as this. How on earth did this article receive coverage/publicity? It adds nothing of value to the communications industry. I wonder why they call you a social media guru when you have not yet even perfected the simple art of writing properly and professionally. Posted on 18 Jul 2012 15:08

Digital doesn't change anything
Cosumers do want to engage with brands... at least brands that can offer entertainment, possibly not related to the products which they offer.
The problem is not with them, it's with agencies who still live in the dark ages of 'advertising'. ROI ROI ROI and measurable are the key phrases, rather than, honesty, integrity and conversation.

The DMMA debate yesterday proved this - debaters were actually asking how to get bloggers to comment on their brands and products - if it's not organic it's not real... and consumers know this, it's just agencies are too arrogant to realise it. Posted on 18 Jul 2012 13:55

Social media attracts the 30-somethings
There is no mention of how much time people spend online given this bullet "37% believe they spend too much time online and need to cut back - indicting that these platforms are viewed as addictive." Posted on 18 Jul 2012 10:25

A look at augmented reality (AR)
Hi Mark,
Great Article, AR is most definitely an upgrade from QR. We (Student Brands) have been educating the youth on QR codes as we have been using them in almost every print medium such as The Brand Magazine. The problem with AR, especially for SME is how do we tap into this "ability" and use it to our advantage without huge costs?

Is there any stand a lone platform like is there with QR to generate such virtual reality? Posted on 18 Jul 2012 09:52

A look at augmented reality (AR)
Hey Brett

Thanks. I definitely believe that their is huge potential with this type of technology, it bridges the gap between a consumer's physical & digital experiences & ultimately extends story being told by a brand into the online space.

I look forward to seeing what the future holds for this technology and see how brands start to plan for it in their future campaigns. Posted on 17 Jul 2012 21:57

Marketing industry is its own worst enemy
I fully agree with Chris. Without picking holes in small bits of his conversation I concur with his overall subject matter i.e. the perception created that marketing = social media. As one single example, we are in the process of researching point-of-sale marketing which, with only preliminary figures, obliterates social media statistics with respect to consumer purchase decisions in all but technology retailing. Yes, I acknowledge that technology tacked onto social media can enhance the interactive brand experience, and that is where the growth is, but right now how do you ignore 48 million odd feet going through the supermarket tills every day without any influence from social media at all? Social media (and technology) is changing the landscape certainly, but it is also creating a fog that descends on many marketing realities i.e. majority consumer behavior. Posted on 17 Jul 2012 14:54

SMEs need to create a cash cushion to survive
My company Green Foorprints can assist with lowering the SME finances by 10% to 40% and in some cases even more by controlling thier electricity costs. SME's are probably wasting & paying for up to 40% of thier current electricity costs, what you cannot se you cannot measure, Green Footprints allows you to see your electricity usage in real time and as such stop the waste and save that money putting it directly back onto thier bottom line.

Think before you tweet
Hi Kobus, no problem, feel free to re-post the article with a credit to us at the foot of it (clickable if possible) - and many thanks for asking, we appreciate it.

As a general rule, it's always best to ask because while we usually give the OK, in some cases we leave the final word to the individual/company that contributed the piece.

There is, however, other material for which we have paid and that cannot be be re-posted. In this case, however, you're welcome to re-post it.

Kind regards, Rod, content director. Posted on 17 Jul 2012 05:56
