[SxSW 2012] Part VIII: Gallery of snaps
[trigger/isobar goes to SxSW] Karin Botta: At SxSW, your senses are taken over at every corner; there is always a party, a food truck, an activation, or just people dressing up. Despite total sensory overload, I managed to remember to take a few photos during the event.

[SxSW 2012] Part VI: Need to know
[trigger/isobar goes to SxSW] Uno de Waal: While SxSW has a great lineup of incredible speakers and events, the fringe events that happen around the main conference are equally as exciting and a great way to add extra value to your time at in Austin. One of these sessions was the PSFK Need to Know series, which was hosted after most of the other talks had finished, and styled as a networking event.

[SxSW 2012] Part I: Preparation
[trigger/isobar goes to SxSW] Karin Botta: After months of planning, we’re finally here. A brief intro: South by Southwest (SxSW) or ‘South By’, as the cool kids call it, is probably the biggest and regarded as the best digital conference in the world. Held annually in Austin, it started out as a music festival – one of the first of the summer season, and has slowly grown into a conference and events festival across film, music and ‘interactive’.

[New Media FIPP Blog] Rose Cohen: Despite the drive towards digital media, worldwide research consistently demonstrates that magazines are still the medium consumers trust the most and are inspired by. [New Media FIPP Blog] Rose Cohen: The first FIPP World Magazine Congress was held in Paris 38 years ago. Now, in 2011, it has made its way to India for the first time (or as Aroon Purie, chairman of FIPP, put it in his opening address: “It’s about time”).

[SIGGRAPH 2011] Day 3 – the prize
[Rafi Leigh] VANCOUVER, CANADA: Getting here to Vancouver seemed desperately important. I knew that technologists were finally connecting the dots. I put all other new business strategies on hold, and made a 16 653lm beeline for the SIGGRAPH convention, where I knew I would find nuggets of wisdom running along the seam lines of emerging tech and creative genius.

[SIGGRAPH 2011] Day 2 – augmented reality means…
[Rafi Leigh] VANCOUVER, CANADA: There are two distinct augmented reality (AR) groups at SIGGRAPH this year. I’ll describe a few developments I saw yesterday, Thursday, 11 August 2011, which are capable of transforming the way we interact with data.

[SIGGRAPH 2011] Day 1 – augmented reality
[Rafi Leigh] VANCOUVER, CANADA: So here I am, in Vancouver, Canada, for the 38th annual global SIGGRAPH conference and exhibition, researching 3D film and gaming technologies and writing on emerging technologies and the potential applications for the South African retail sector. I’ll get to the point. Retail will never be the same again
