[Johanna McDowell] NEW YORK CITY: We ate a delicious dinner at the oldest (former) synagogue in New York, now an art gallery and event space - organised by Ogilvy, who had hosted us earlier that day for a presentation - as part of the 2012 AdForum Worldwide Summit.

[AdForum Worldwide Summit] Preview from IAS
[Johanna McDowell] NEW YORK CITY: I arrived in New York City yesterday for the 2012 AdForum Worldwide Summit – a 16-hour flight and then a four-hour delay at Kennedy Airport - their officials were on a go-slow – trying to prove a point ahead of the elections. Does that sound familiar?

[Cannes Lions 2012] Impi… Nkosi Sike… Shosholoz…
[140 BBDO goes to Cannes] Michael Pearson: It’s been a good year for South Africa, I’m very proud to come from our little corner of the continent. It’s also been lovely to see how we all come together here, a real national team. So, what’s featured heavily from SA?

[Cannes Lions 2012] The Annual BBDO Creative Directors’ Conference
[140 BBDO goes to Cannes] Michael Pearson: The independent vs. global network debate never ceases, and probably never will, but I can tell you: on days like today, it’s gooood to be big. Yesterday was the Annual BBDO Creative Directors’ Conference, held at the rather delightful Martinez Hotel, where we were treated to insights, workshops and lectures from some of the world’s foremost advertising minds.

[SxSW 2012] Part VIII: Gallery of snaps
[trigger/isobar goes to SxSW] Karin Botta: At SxSW, your senses are taken over at every corner; there is always a party, a food truck, an activation, or just people dressing up. Despite total sensory overload, I managed to remember to take a few photos during the event.

[SxSW 2012] Part VI: Need to know
[trigger/isobar goes to SxSW] Uno de Waal: While SxSW has a great lineup of incredible speakers and events, the fringe events that happen around the main conference are equally as exciting and a great way to add extra value to your time at in Austin. One of these sessions was the PSFK Need to Know series, which was hosted after most of the other talks had finished, and styled as a networking event.

[SxSW 2012] Part V: Brands as APIs
[trigger/isobar goes to SxSW] Uno de Waal: SxSW Interactive is primarily a conference attended by the tech-set. However, SXSW also sees a lot of people attending from the non-technical side, such as branding, strategy and marketing. Often the two overlap, and often we need different metaphors from different industries to explain things. The most interesting of these metaphors came from the brands as APIs, content publisher discussions and the way we measure ROI in social media talks.
