Le Blog

This is the communal blog of Jenny Glover and Brent Singer, joint ECDs at Net#work BBDO who are off to Cannes Lions 2013. Together, the two have won five Gold Lions (four of those being Campaign Lions) and one Cannes Grand Prix in their four years of working together. Throughout the festival, they will bring regular updates on what's happening, as well as the overall feel at Cannes.

[Cannes Lions 2013] On arrival

Jenny Glover: Stepping off the plane at Nice airport, one can literally smell the hope of thousands of bright-eyed and expectant creatives. Hope that will in a few short days be replaced by the acrid smell of disappointment and b.o.

Another thing that you'll notice when you alight from the plane is that you will instantly become less attractive. I speak the truth. The average thigh size in Cannes is four centimeters. That's a real statistic right there. If, say, like me, you're coming in at a 2.3 on the hotness scale (if I wear spanx and stay vigilant about facial hair removal), your arrival in Cannes means that score will now be halved.

Don't despair, there are plenty of polony-coloured account directors from the UK to boost your self confidence.

On the work front, it's early days but there are already a few contenders. We're holding thumbs for Draftfcb Cape Town's (@DraftfcbSA) Fire Blanket Calendar, as well as Ogilvy Cape Town's (@OgilvyCT) Google Street Quests.
