
University and college campuses that address climate challenge will better serve students and help create a thriving and ethical society, Higher Education and Training Minister Blade Nzimande said at the launch of the African Green Campus Initiative on Saturday. Nzimande said colleges and universities would help provide students with the know-how and skills needed to address climate change.

The Climate Change Leadership Awards, first established in South Africa in 2009, have now been extended to include all of Africa and have been rebranded as the Climate Hero Awards Africa. There are now only four categories and an overall winner, who gets R250 000 for a nominated climate beneficiary.
