Stellenbosch Business School brings its popular high-level Leader's Angle talk series to Gaborone

The University of Stellenbosch Business School (USB) is bringing its countrywide and cross-border tour of its high-level talk series, Leader's Angle, to Gaborone in September – with a well-known South African chairman of companies and former South African ambassador to Belgium as speaker.
Prof Eltie Links, well known in corporate, academic and diplomatic circles, will address audiences in Botswana and Namibia as part of the USB Leader's Angle tour to neighbouring countries.

At the same event, Prof Eon Smit, director of the USB, will discuss the latest trends in business education.

The Leader's Angle talk series, held monthly at the USB on all aspects of leadership, is an outflow of the USB's strong focus on leadership development in its MBA and executive education programmes, and its research on leadership.

Through presenting the Leader's Angle talk series – which has drawn interest from business and government leaders, MBA students, alumni and the business media over the past two years – the USB shares leadership know-how with a broader audience.

The series of talks is presented by the University of Stellenbosch Business School (USB), the USB Alumni Association, USB Executive Development Ltd (USB-ED) and the Institute for Futures Research of the University of Stellenbosch, in association with FinWeek and KPMG.

At the Leader's Angle talk on 11 September in Gaborone, prospective MBA* students will be informed of the USB MBA, other degrees offered by the business school and executive education programmes for 2008. The event also provides an excellent networking opportunity.

The USB's MBA degree is internationally accredited by both EQUIS and AMBA. The criteria on which these accreditations are based include the business school's international relations, its cooperation with the business community and the content of its MBA.

The MBA programme focuses on participants' professional as well as personal development. Students are exposed to a combination of solid theoretical knowledge and practical, real-world management know-how. They also undergo a unique and individualised leadership development process, which forms a central theme of the USB experience.

The USB MBA is presented in three formats, namely full-time over one year, part-time (evening classes) over two years, and modular (ten blocks of eight days each) over 2,5 years. According to Prof Smit, students from afar usually opt for the modular programme, while overseas students opt for the full-time programme. Those working full-time in the vicinity of the School have a choice between modular and part-time classes.

The high-level Leader's Angle talk will be held at the Gaborone Sun Hotel in Gaborone at a breakfast function between 07:30 and 09:30 on Tuesday, 11 September.

Willemien Law, executive director: Open Programmes and Rest of Africa for USB Executive Development Ltd (USB-ED), the private executive development company based at the USB, has just returned from a conference in Gaborone. Law addressed the Annual Strategic HR Conference on the value of strategic relationships for HR practitioners.

Confirming USB-ED's focus on executive development in Africa, Law officiated over the first certificates to participants who completed USB-ED's Management Development Programme in Botswana at the end of last year. According to her, the company looks forward to presenting more programmes in Botswana in the future.

*The successful completion of either the SHL or GMAT selection test is an MBA admission requirement. For the convenience of prospective students, the USB will schedule SHL tests at the venue.
