ITWeb wraps up 10th successful IT Security Summit

Proving that a niche event can still draw crowds when the content is kept fresh and relevant, ITWeb's 10th annual Security Summit attracted 776 top IT security industry stakeholders over the three days of the conference and expo this year.

The Summit, staged at Vodacom World from 26 to 28 May, featured 34 high-profile information security experts, notably keynote speaker Bill Binney, a former director of the US National Security Agency (NSA), an organisation whose surveillance programmes have made news headlines for the past two years.

"In an area as focused as information security, it is important to ensure that only the most topical information is presented by the most highly regarded experts in their field," says ITWeb events director Angela Mace. "South Africa's information security sector has come to depend on the ITWeb Security Summit as an important source of the latest infosec information, and as a primary networking event for the industry."

Speaking ahead of the event, Dimitri Fousekis, COO at Telspace Systems, said delegates at the Summit benefited from the event by being exposed to "current research, current trends, and the new products that are being released that will help them to understand what security implications we have, understand what cyber security threats are, and what has changed."

The Summit has a long history of attracting key enterprise stakeholders. This year was no exception, with 30 sponsors and partners participating in the exhibition, including high-profile names such as event sponsor Vodacom, diamond sponsor Samsung, and platinum sponsor StarLink.

Tara-Anne Yates of The Marketing Hub says her client, gold sponsor CyberArk, participated in Security Summit for the third time in 2015, due to the calibre of delegates who attend the event. "For CyberArk, the Security Summit is a good platform to meet the right people in the security industry. Influencers from the right companies attend the event, and my clients get strong leads and resulting business from its exposure at the Summit, which is why they keep coming back," she says.

The 11th annual ITWeb Security Summit will take place from 24 - 25 May 2016 at Vodacomworld in Midrand. For further information visit www.securitysummit.co.za
