MoMo Nigeria to run mobile software app contest

Local information and communications technology development firm, Mobile Monday (MoMo Nigeria), will be running a contest for mobile software application developers and designers in the country.

The firm has collaborated with software giant, Microsoft, phone manufacturer, Nokia and payment solution provider, Verve, to stage the contest named DevCon Alpha.

Prizes of up to $250 000 would be made available to support the winners.

Competition details

Eligible software applications for participation in the contest must be developed on either Windows 8 Mobile or Windows Phone platforms with in-app payments powered by Verve.

The contest is open to three categories of entries: Existing apps from "devigners" and retailers that meet the eligibility criteria and available for showcase at the event; apps from devigners that meet the criteria and already registered on the Windows App Store and lastly, concepts from devigners that have conceptual models of apps that can meet the criteria.

According to MoMo Nigeria, a panel of experts with a focus on user experience, scalability and design submitted will assess the entries.

Interested participants can register on the MoMo Nigeria website, which also gives instant access to the Verve SDK.
