Africa Media Online was invited by the Google Cultural Institute earlier this year to become a key partner in a very exciting initiative that has just gone live.
The Google Cultural Institute is a not-for-profit arm of Google created to preserve and promote cultural, historic, and artistic content. Its past initiatives have included such significant projects as the Google Art Project, the digitisation of the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Nelson Mandela Archive. The most recent Historic Exhibits initiative showcases a collection of stories of important 20th century events created in part by Africa Media Online. It allows users to use a timeline to refine searches, or browse online stories or by topic.
It has been a great privilege to be involved in this initiative to showcase turning points in South African history.
Africa Media Online is an organisation dedicated to enabling African media professionals and media organisations to bring their products to market to compete on an equal footing in the global marketplace.
