Egypt's last working web provider goes offline

WASHINGTON: Egypt's last working internet service provider, the Noor Group, went down on Monday (31 January 2011), a US web monitoring company said, leaving the country completely offline.

Renesys, a New Hampshire-based firm that monitors internet routing data in real time, said the Noor network "started disappearing from the internet" at around 2046 GMT.

Egypt's four main internet service providers cut off international access to their customers on Thursday (27 January), leaving the Noor Group as the only working network in the country rocked by days of anti-government unrest.
