DStv's South African audiences will watch the show's two-hour launch live, on M-Net's AfricaMagic channel.

Building on the success of the first series, Big Brother Africa 2 is focused on providing more exciting, emotional, dramatic viewing to audiences in over 40 African countries in Africa. DStv Premium and Compact audiences will get non-stop 24/7 coverage of the show on the specially created and dedicated DStv channel 37.

And while Big Brother's big secret, the identities of the 12 African housemates selected to participate on the show, will only be revealed on Sunday, the show recently unveiled a sneak peek of the new Big Brother Africa house, which is situated at Sasani Studios in Johannesburg.

Destined to become familiar to audiences across the continent, the African-style house will become home to the 12 housemates for 98 days as they compete for public affection and the chance to win the show's grand prize of US$ 100 000.

Equipped with 28 cameras and 64 microphones to monitor the housemates all day, every day, the house comprises two bedrooms with six beds in each, an open-plan dining room and lounge and a fully functional kitchen. It also includes a communal bathroom with a shower, an access-controlled storeroom and, of course, the all important Diary Room – where the housemates will share their thoughts, opinions and emotions with Big Brother and with audiences continent-wide.

Outside the house, contestants have access to a 260 square metre garden with Jacuzzi, hammock, barbeque and water features.

Data application

DStv's channel 37 will have a data application married to it so audiences can find out more about their favourite housemates. It will also have a on-screen strapline running 24/7 so that audiences can share SMS messages about the housemates, SMS shout-outs to other fans and SMS information with other viewers.
