Fashion design collaboration for WDC 2014

As Cape Town is the 2014 World Design Capital, Skinny laMinx intends to spend the year collaborating with local and international designers in surprising and enlivening ways. Its designer, Heather Moore and fashion designer Jessica Harwood of Take Care have teamed up on a cross-pollination project.

Two designs from the Skinny laMinx Up, Up & Away fabric collection for Cloud 9 Fabrics was used by Harwood to create summery casualwear, which is both playful and sophisticated. Harwood made a summery shell top with a keyhole detail on the back and a pair of simple tapered pants with pockets and a draw cord waistband.

"I love the clear, minimal styling of the Take Care store and Jess's beautifully spare collections," says Moore. So when the sampling for Up, Up & Away arrived at Skinny laMinx, Moore was delighted when Harwood took her up on the offer to play with the fresh, lightweight organic fabrics, bringing some of her pared back fashion sensibility to the collection.

The garments are not available for purchase, as the intention behind the collaboration was to inspire home sewers and aspiring fashion designers to create their own clothes using the Up, Up & Away collection. The range of prints is available in limited quantities from the shop at 201 Bree Street, Cape Town.
