Confectionery wonderland at Loeries Mayor's Party

25 Sep 2009 12:301 commentsBizLike
A live mermaid on a bed of oysters, salmon and braai buffets, served by rainbow-wigged hostesses and fantasy confectionery beyond your dreams welcomed guests to the Mayor's Party which last night, 24 September 2009, officially launched the 2009 Loerie Awards in Cape Town.
Held at Charley's Bakery, the usually decrepit East City precinct was transformed into a hospitality wonderland. Dignitaries from Mayco, the Cape Town Partnership, Cape Town Tourism, sponsors, the media and industry were plied with pink sparkling wine and entertained by dazzling local outfit Nomfusi.

Executive Mayor of Cape Town, Alderman Dan Plato
Comic and MC for the evening, David Newton, welcomed addresses by former HerdBuoys co-founder, Happy Ntshingila, now executive of ABSA Group Marketing Communications and Corporate Affairs and Francois Groepe, CEO of Media 24, culminating in the official mayoral welcome by executive mayor, Alderman Dan Plato.

CEO of the Loeries, Andrew Human, thanked everybody especially the advertising industry that make it all happen by producing the great work that gives us all an excuse to gather together and celebrate.

If this is hospitality ZA style, bring on 2010.

Egos & Ethics-
Disgusting - think on the advertising folk who have been retrenched by their Canned Lion Gods of the 80's and their Sell Out Bosses in the last Year ! are you drinking a toast to them ?
Think on how the USA and European Agencies did not attend these glorious indulgences as a sign of Budgets and down right Decency.
It's despicable and so typical of this sick infantile industry. ME. ME. ME.
