After making the announcement, Multichoice Malawi regional manager, Titania Katenga Kaunda, told Bizcommunity that not much has been revealed by, Endemol South Africa, the producers of the show.
"All what the people are supposed to know is that we will stay in touch as it unfolds," Kaunda said "But for sure I can confirm that it has not been explained whether or not the pair will undergo joint auditions."
She said although the announcement was made at close of business on Tuesday, their telephone lines were crammed with calls of enquiry, which was expected.
In a statement issued, she explains that just when DStv audiences thought that they had seen it all, the series has pulled off another surprise. Not only in the pairing of housemates, but the prize money has has been increased to US$300 000.
It was stressed that anyone who wants to enter, must enter as a pair.
Katenga Kaunda explained that those interested must make serious consideration as whom they want to to take want to take on the journey.
She also explained that this season, two new countries, Liberia and Sierra Leone will be included in the house. Ethiopia has however bowed out of the game, while Mozambique will take on a new role that will be announced at a later stage.
Therefore, citizens of Angola, Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe can enter.
Criteria for entrants, is that both partners must come from the same country, must be 21 years or older, must be fluent in English and must have a valid passport.
Entry forms are available from the nearest Multichoice office in their country from 5 February 2012, alternatively log on to www.mnetafrica.com/bigbrother and complete an entry form online. The entry can also be downloaded from the website, and completed forms can be sent to az.oc.lomedne@abb.
Nothing has changed on the old requirements where entrants are expected to those that are fun-loving, vocal, creative, original and articulate.
"In addition all entrants must have the social flexibility to live in close proximity with others and must be tolerant of views and lifestyle choices other than their own," says the statement.
M-Net Africa's managing director, Biola Alabi says, "In the past we've seen a natural and continuous cross-over between individuals and their families, their friends. So this year, we decided to include that as part of the game," adding that "It will definitely make a dramatic addition to the series so we urge people to enter and experience what will be a uniquely different Big Brother Africa!"
Season 7 of Big Brother Africa will again be headline sponsored by Coca-Cola and will be screened to 47 countries across the continent, live 24/7 for 91 days on DStv Channel 198.
The series starts on Sunday, 6 May 2012.
