Five leisure activities that can boost your productivity at work

Whether you're the CEO of a company or an employee, working becomes very stressful and monotonous at some point - doing the same thing every day, meeting the same people and dealing with the same issues over and over again.
Situations like this begin to tell on you. You start dreading the moment your alarm goes off because you know it’s time to start the routine all over again. You put in less effort into your tasks because you already know the end result, and your productivity level keeps reducing.

It is important to know that only motivated employees of a company can contribute to its growth, while the demoralized ones are liabilities and can be destructive, if care is not taken.

Are you noticing any of these signs in your employees or yourself? Is your productivity level running low by the day? Are you continually showing signs of exhaustion? Below are five leisure activities that can boost your productivity at work.

1. Playing games

You’re probably used to getting straight to work soon as you arrive at the premises everyday, but you can now switch things up. You can suggest to the company that a games day be created where everyone probably works half of the day and the rest of the working hours be used to play games like volleyball, football, ping-pong, dart-throwing, table tennis or even chess among the employees.

Not only will this move increase your productivity, you’ll also notice how eager you’ll be to take on tasks assigned to you at work.

2. Team run

To increase productivity at work, you can start a weekly morning run together with your team for about 10-15 minutes, and even attach a prize to it.

Everyone will look forward to appearing at work and participating in the run – especially for the prize attached to it. After the run, they’ll be more relaxed, less bored and ready to put in their best.

3. Guess Who

If you notice that everything’s becoming monotonous, you can speak to your employer or the head of Human Resource about bringing up games, such as “Guess Who”.

Everyone at work brings their childhood picture; a specific one is shown to everyone at work as they take turns at guessing which employee could possibly be in the photo. This helps ease the stress accumulated in the body, gets everyone united and increases their productivity.

4. Listen to music

If you feel your productivity level at work is going down the drain, maybe it’s time to get an earpiece and listen to your best song for a couple of minutes. Just sit and relax in the office, plug in your earpiece and listen to your favorite artist for 10–15 minutes.

At the end of this, you’ll be less occupied with the monotony and ready to put your best into your assigned task.

5. Take a walk

You’re around the same four walls every day; you’re allowed to be bored but not less productive, so take a walk. Take a bit of your break time for a stroll. Get outside the work premises. Walk down the street, see new people, take in fresh breath and breathe.

By the time you get back from this short walk, you’ll feel lighter, better and ready to take on your task for the rest of the day.

Working daily is not easy, especially if it’s a routine job because you’ll get less excited about performing your duties and your productivity level will drop drastically. However, this can be countered by performing some of the leisure activities above to get you back on track again.
