MultiChoice Tanzania Public Relations Manager Barbara Kambogi said at a press conference that the launch is part of M-Net's 'hyper-local' African content strategy, and its latest channel has been created to meet the needs of growing Tanzanian television audiences and aims to serve as a platform to celebrate dynamic Tanzanian screen talent.

Comprising six hour programming block that will be re-screened daily, MAISHA MAGIC BONGO will be available to DStv audiences across East Africa on channel 160. In addition to screening the popular Bongo movies and Swahili dramas that viewers across the country love, the channel will also include lifestyle shows, music programs, Reality TV series and talkshows ensuring a wide portfolio of programming is on offer.

"The channel schedule will also include Swahili dubbed Indian movies to cater to the Bollywood loving fans as well," Kambogi said.

M-Net Director for East Africa Theo Erasmus says, "We are delighted to unveil this new channel and look forward to growing it into a strong Tanzanian brand, with the support of Tanzanian audiences who have always been loyal to M-Net and for whom we have specifically developed this new offering.

"We are especially pleased that we have been able to acquire some great programming from a range of top local producers who have engaged with us and we are looking to broaden our already long-standing partnership with the local film and TV community to ensure that their achievements are showcased more widely."
