Jaco Walters of The Multiple Birth Shop exhibited for the first time and here's what he had to say: "Thank you for the Baba Indaba this weekend. Being our first show we did not know what to expect, but what we got exceeded our expectations! Thanks for your organisation thereof!"
Lorraine of Cherished Bellies commented: "It was a well organised show and the organisers were friendly, helpful and always smiling as were the surrounding exhibitors! The Baba Indaba helped to advertise our product too which was great. I liked the H2O International water coolers dotted around as I didn't have to move away from my stand to keep hydrated."
The Tshwane Place of Safety, an organisation caring for orphans in Gauteng, was at the show educating visitors on its plight. The home has lost a vast amount of support in the past year due to the tough economic climate but the number of babies needing care and protection has only increased. Their celebrity patrons - Pierre van Pletzen - Oubaas in 7de Laan on SABC 2 and his wife Sandra Vaughn - Anke in Getroud met Rugby on Kyknet made an appearance at the show and kindly posed for photos with lucky visitors!
There were many giveaways that saw lucky moms and dads walking away with hampers from Parmalat, Adcock Ingram and Milton. A fashion show from Maternity Lane thrilled moms-to-be and Caitlin's Castings relaxed mom and dad with a 10 minute neck and back professional massage. All proceeds were donated to the non-profit organisation
Return To Roots Foundation.
The SABC Education Baba Indaba awards were evaluated by our capable judges who hailed from, among others, the Rekord and 93.8 fm. Congratulations to the winners: The Most Green Product award was given to Baby Throne. The Most Popular Exhibitor award was won by Picture-it Photography. The Most Interactive Stand award went to Parmalat. The Most Innovative Product award was awarded to Micralite with certificates of excellence awarded to Baby Throne and Cherished Belly.
