Twelve of the 66 stands at the Durban Motor Show were presented with Gold Awards at the event's prize giving on April 13. The only double winner was Toyota, which collected Gold for its passenger vehicle and outdoor displays.
Other car stands that were adjudged to be of Gold standard were Alfa Romeo, Kia, Land Rover, Peugeot and new Chinese brand Zotye. Companies in the allied industries that had Gold-rated standard were BP, Castrol, Meguiar's and Modified SA, while the only Gold award for an outdoor stand was that won by Toyota.
Chats Car Club, which organised the car audio, dyno engine output testing, “Glow in the Dark” and Show and Shine competitions was given a Gold award under the “Events” category.
“The standard of displays was generally very high this year and the judges had a difficult time deciding on which of them deserved awards – particularly the Gold Awards,” commented Durban Motor Show manager, Bella Geldenhuis.
