The Free State's favourite homegrown daily is constantly striving to keep its readers enthralled. Which is why, when the paper realized that its circulation had been stagnating for a while, it commissioned media research guru, Jos Kuper of Kuper Research to investigate. After doing an extensive study, Jos gave various suggestions of how to improve upon the current strategies. "Research in Action" was then appointed to determine, through focus groups, what the readers' needs and wants were.
One resounding message came through it all: The Volksblad's Saturday edition was being read by a younger audience than the Monday to Friday, and they were wanting tabloid!
So, as always - we have listened, heard and heeded. From 4 March 2006, Volksblad's Saturday edition will be in tabloid format!
