Positive results as POST mobilises for change

KZN Premier, Zweli Mkhize and POST Editor, Aakash Bramdeo join forces to mobilise communities against drug abuse

The October - December 2012 ABCs released last week show increased sales for the fourth consecutive quarter and Editor, Aakash Bramdeo, is upbeat about sales in the new year.

He credits the title's sustained success to his team's focus on the interests of the readership he serves. "Our readers have high expectations of POST.

"Their most fundamental expectation is that we are in their corner, or even leading the charge on their behalf, when things get tough.

"Take, for example, the drug scourge that's eroding the social fabric of our communities. In some areas of Chatsworth there's an all-out war with drug lords and dealers running lucrative businesses at the expense of vulnerable teenagers."

POST has used its considerable media muscle to bring together the community, government agencies and concerned organisations in the fight against drug abuse.

The Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Dr Zweli Mkhize, acknowledged POST's contribution in his State of the Province speech at the end of February. He said that "the active participation of the POST newspaper demonstrates progress that is possible with media partners playing a constructive role in support of the communities."
