Die Burger's Christmas fund (Die Kersfonds) invites all their readers, schools and businesses to open their hearts and wallets and contribute towards this fund. Over the last few weeks the fund has already raised more than R300 000 but still needs contributions to achieve its goal of R1.3 million. This fund was established in 1957 to support and accommodate young children in the newspaper's distribution area.
  • You can support this fund by making an EFT-payment directly into the fund's Absa-account (account number 360 220 230, branch code 312 109) or send a crossed cheque to Die Burger-Kersfonds, PO Box 692, Cape Town, 8000.
If you would like to become even more involved, you can register yourself as an activist on our GivenGain webpage (www.dieburgerkersfonds.givengain.org) and start your own fundraising initiative.

What is the fund used for?
  • Throughout the year pupils from small town schools are accommodated in Die Burger-Strandhuis and taken on educational day trips in and around the city. Die Burger-Kersfonds raises funds for the maintenance and upkeep of Die Burger-Strandhuis.
  • Children identified by welfare institutions such as Badisa, the ACVV and Mfesane get the opportunity to visit Cape Town on an educational tour for five days during the school holidays.
  • At the end of each year Die Burger-Strandhuis also hosts a youth leadership conference in conjunction with the Education Department of the Western Cape.
PS - Did you know that you can send an SMS to 49219 to donate R20 to the fund?
