  • BD Live: Sunday Independent editor Monare quits... BD Live reports that Monare, who has been editor of the group's flagship Sunday newspaper since February 2012, is not the only loss... as he goes, so shall Ann Crotty, a senior correspondent for the group's Business Report publication.

Earlier departures of senior staff since November last year, and following the takeover of the INMSA by Iqbal Survé's Sekunjalo Independent Media Consortium include:

    • Cape Times' editor Alide Dasnois was suddenly removed from her position in November. She is now embroiled in a labour dispute with the owners of INMSA. For more see Cape Times editor fired, and CT editor fired for 'not meeting targets'?
    • The column written by labour analyst Terry Bell was put on hold, apparently after he aired his views on Dasnois' removal
    • Group executive editor Chris Whitfield took early retirement last month. For more see Whitfield takes 'early retirement', and Cape Times row boils on... and over?.

Paul Vecchiatto, writing for I-Net Bridge, reports that a column written two weeks ago by INMSA group executive editor Karima Brown and her deputy‚ Vukani Mde‚ complained about people within the group working against the new owner‚ the Sekunjalo Independent Media Consortium‚ chaired by Iqbal Survé‚ and suggested they could leave whenever they wanted.
