The Westville Pavillion Shopping Centre owners, Pareto Ltd with Motseng Project Management, have announced ambitious redevelopment plans of the iconic Westville Pavillion which will see an initial R228m investment. This redevelopment project is managed by Motseng Project Management.

Our redevelopment is not only to maintain the Centres' position as an iconic retail and entertainment centre, but to concurrently stimulate growth in the surrounding area to promote business success and create a legacy that is relevant to the community."
Dewald van Staden, MD, Motseng Project Management, added, "We are delighted to announce this investment of R228m in the initial phase of the Pavilion upgrade and expansion, but are keenly aware that the knock-on effect through job creation, suppliers, new tenants and all other service providers will see far more invested. There will be a new, fresh retail mix, improved access, additional parking and a host of other amenities including family entertainment to be rolled out over three phases. On completion, visitors and shoppers will experience a first world retail and entertainment centre with upgraded amenities, with phase 1 commencing 2013 and completion in May 2014."

The re-development will cement its' position as a leading retail centre as well as creating a new business focussed investment in the West of Durban. Phase one includes an extensive refurbishment of the Via Pareto mall, new contemporary design and shop facades, a re-layout of the Food Court, and the building of four state-of-the-art cinemas, with plush seating and the latest technology, whilst the existing eight cinemas will be upgraded to world-class digitised standards. There will also be new concept-style tenants and a reconfiguration of existing tenants to facilitate visitor access, ample dedicated parking for the entertainment area, improved lift and escalator access, creating a flow to different areas and levels, and cutting-edge designs and upgrades to the restroom and family facilities.
New tenants for the redevelopment phase include New Grill House, Galaxy Bingo, and Boost Juice already confirmed and established shopper favourites including KFC, Subway, Steers, Debonairs, Fishaways, Mimmo's, Sausage Saloon and Café Gitano.
This initial development phase lays the foundation for an holistic development plan for Pavillion for the next three to five years, which will see Phases two and three rolling-out mixed-use business opportunities, improved traffic infrastructure access, as well as extra retail floor space and enhanced functionality development for shoppers, the community and Ethekwini at large.
