Local design and iconography specialist Berge Farrell continues to spread its wings on the international stage, with three significant jobs in 2008 - one in Romania, another in Ireland, and the final - and perhaps most exciting - one, in Italy.

In Romania, Berge Farrell was commissioned by
SABMiller to rebrand and package one of the country's top beer brands,
Timisoreana. The job involved walking the fine line between maintaining the brand's strong heritage and simultaneously updating its image, which was beginning to look a little dated. In just six weeks following the launch of the evolutionary image and packaging, the brand grew by an unprecedented 28% - a growth that SABMiller itself attributes almost entirely to the work done by Berge Farrell.
In Ireland, the agency won a competitive pitch for the rebrand of the country's number one toilet roll brand,
Kitten Soft, against a selection of well-known European agencies. Working in collaboration with sister company Huguenot XMI, Berge Farrell has been briefed to help maintain the brand's top market position amid a recent increase in competition. The work, which is predominantly being produced in the agency's local offices in South Africa, is currently in its final stages.
Last, but certainly not least, Berge Farrell has recently won a significant and very competitive pitch for
Peroni Italy, which involves a new brand development initiative. The agency isn't at liberty to release any detail at this stage, but is very excited by the potential and has promised to let the local market in on the secret as soon as the brand permits.
“Working on international brands, but keeping a very local presence with our offices in both Cape Town and Johannesburg, places Berge Farrell in an enviable position of having the best of both worlds,” comments MD Andrew Nel.
“With every international job that we undertake, we build our knowledge and expertise in the design field, and we bring this experience to the local market, and to every local job that we undertake.”
