"No more lines"

Drew Neisser, CEO of Renegade Marketing, recently released his top 10 alternative marketing trends of 2007, and number eight on his list was “No more lines”. Only a few weeks into 2007 and this ambitious prediction is already a viable reality for event organisers and brands that choose to adopt barcode SMS ticketing technology for their events.

No lines or queues were clearly evident at a Hotstuff Marketing event, held recently in Durban. Wayin was tasked with enhancing guest experience at the event by ensuring that there where no long queues when they arrived at the event. Wayin used its barcode SMS ticketing technology to deliver a queue-less experience for the guests – the first of its kind in KwaZulu-Natal.

Guests were sent a barcode SMS invite a day before the event. On the day of the event, Wayin setup a barcode SMS redemption station at the entrance. Once the guests arrived they simply placed their mobile phone on Wayin’s EXIO scanner, which then validated their SMS ticket and allowed them instantaneous event access. The guests were grateful to the organizers for taking their convenience into consideration by adopting barcode SMS technology for the invites to this event. This positive experience will linger on in their minds and no doubt influence their next purchasing decision.



Today’s consumers are constantly on the move thanks to mobile communication devices like laptops and mobile phones. They are increasingly on the lookout for innovative products and services that support or enhance their in-transit experiences. Anything that inhibits them from seamlessly sliding from one consumption experiences to another will be seen as a barrier to their aspirations of a trans-lucid reality.

The aspiration for “No More Lines” can be liked to the spread of the global marketing phenomenon of TRANSUMERISM, which focuses on consumers in transit and how they are slowly starting to mirror travel behavior in their daily lives.
