A call for entries to enter the annual Smarties Awards is making its way around the mobile industry worldwide. This year, South Africa has an opportunity to participate with its own, first ever local Smarties Awards show. Have you entered your great mobile marketing work yet?
When thinking media, mobile has moved from the nice-to-have to the must-have addition in any integrated advertising strategy. As mobile begins to officially outweigh the use of pen and paper, the focus on generating captivating, creative and more mobile-centric campaigns, is becoming a priority. As such, it's important for the industry to showcase best practice and acknowledge the good work, great minds and business entities responsible for steering innovation, advancement, results and good old entertainment, in mobile marketing communications.
The Smarties Awards is the only global awards program created specifically to recognise best-in-class mobile work from around the world. Judged equally on creativity, strategy, execution and results, Smarties provides a benchmark for the industry and continues to raise the bar for marketers and their agencies. In addition to the Global Smarties, the Mobile Marketing Association is launching regional programs and local opportunities to win the coveted award.
For the very first time a Smarties Awards ceremony is taking place in South Africa this year, an exciting addition to the mobile landscape as well as the award season calendar. The show will see local agencies, businesses and industry pioneers honoured for their great work. A grand gala event is set for September; more information on that will be announced in the coming weeks. 2014 is a landmark year for the Smarties, as the awards turns 10 years old, ensuring this year is going to be legendary.
The Smarties looks forward to welcoming a tipping point in the number of agencies and brands entering their work, and take that great stride from the sidelines into the arena to represent their fully engaged use of mobile and see how they stack up against their peers.
Note: 2014 Smarties eligibility is for campaigns deployed from June 2013 to June 2014. To honor and support the growth of the industry, Smarties has introduced new country-specific programs as well as new regional programs, in addition to their existing global program. So there are now three ways to enter and win an award. These new programs will provide winners with greater levels of visibility within both local markets and on a global stage. All materials, documentation and payment must be received in the MMA office in New York no later than the dates listed above. Entrants should submit their entry/entries according to our deadline to allow sufficient amount of time for entries to be thoroughly reviewed and processed. This will also allow the Smarties staff to provide relevant feedback when necessary.
