Film production has been around for ages - since 1867, to be exact, when William Lincoln patented the "Zoopraxiscope", which was the first machine in the United States that showed animated pictures or movies.
This is almost how long Grapevine Postcards has been working with Nu Metro. Well, not quite, more like minus a 129 years! The point is we've had a very successful working relationship with them, advertising predominantly upcoming movie releases. That is, after all what they specialise in.
The latest venture entailed the promotion of the
Speed Racer movie that sped into SA screens on the 20th June this year.
The
Speed Racer postcards ran as a two-part campaign:
- The postcards were distributed through the Grapevine racks
- Entry boxes and postcards were placed in various Pizza Perfect outlets
We coupled the postcard campaign with well-known pizzeria franchise, “Pizza Perfect”. The aim was for the cards to be placed on the store counters of selected outlets along with an entry box. The back of the postcard was an entry form to win a Wii Console, the latest
Speed Racer game and five
Speed Racer movie merchandise hampers.
Nqobile Mnisi, who is the marketing manager Warner Brothers, Nu Metro, drew the winner of the Wii Console personally, right here at the Grapevine offices!
“It was all in all a very rewarding and effective campaign. We received very positive feedback from the selected outlets and found a definite increase in sales during the campaign,” Says Michael Solomou, marketing manager of Pizza Perfect.
Thanks to our diligent distribution team, the research showed that these cards were extremely popular, with the entire 40 000 postcard campaign lasting only five weeks.
The postcard movement was tracked and is depicted in the following graph:
A whopping 11 951 entries were received from the postcards!
