Worldwide leading Hiflex MIS system now also available in South Africa
Issued by: Exell Technologies

The technology leading Hiflex MIS (Management Information System) will be featured at South African Print Expo 2007 in Johannesburg (Expo Centre, NASREC). From 13-16 March 2007, locally based workflow automation specialist Dewald Rosema from Exell Technologies provides detailed information about the benefits of Hiflex MIS System on his booth 7C1.

Automation technology for efficient print production
Dewald Rosema from Exell Technologies and local representative for Hiflex says: “The future of any printer today is in how well it can manage its information and communication channels, not only internally but also with its customer and supplier.” And he comments: “From my experience as IT manager at the offset printer Ultra Litho in Johannesburg, who has been using the Hiflex MIS since autumn 2003, I recognised what automation with Hiflex and CIP4's Job Definition Format JDF can do for most effective print production. It provides a clear view of the printing plant, speeds up order management, and also allows more transparency for customers. We believe that Hiflex is truly one of the most sophisticated workflow automation systems out there, and it is for this reason why we have decided to stick with Hiflex and ensure local representation and support.”

Hiflex MIS, JDF and networked production
Stefan Reichhart, Managing Director of German MIS vendor Hiflex, describes most important features of the Hiflex MIS: “Our business software covers all areas, from estimation through quotation, including job costing, invoicing, and document management.” And he continues: “With the estimate, an accurate production plan is automatically generated that visualises the entire production sequence. The relevant job data is transferred into the Hiflex Scheduling application (digital planning board) where the job is automatically scheduled, observing all dependencies between the different processes.” The Hiflex system efficiently manages the job related communication processes and not at least therefore greatly improves the whole order management.

JDF is the key technology for complete networking of the printing plant. In the automated CIM (Computer Integrated Manufacturing) workflow the Hiflex MIS functions as the JDF Controller as it manages and controls the joint usage of all data relevant to production. It brings together the administrative and the technical workflow in one central IT system thus enhancing transparency and flexibility throughout production. This paves the way for improved cost and time efficiency.

Real-life benefit of JDF
Stefan Reichhart says: “The practical and economic benefits of real-life JDF installations between Hiflex MIS and various production systems have repeatedly been testified by award winning Hiflex users.” In the international CIP4 Innovation Award 2005 and 2006 Hiflex user won four out of the six awards and achieved second places in the remaining. “This is further evidence that Hiflex is the technological leader in JDF connectivity,” he closes.

About Hiflex
Hiflex manufactures the Hiflex MIS (Management Information System) which models and supports all business processes in the graphic arts industry. The Hiflex MIS contains several modules: Hiflex Office, Factory and e-Business (Office: Estimate, Order Management, CRM, Materials Logistics, Document Management. Factory: Shop Floor Data Collection and Production Data Collection (PDC), Scheduling, Shipping, JDF-interfaces. eBusiness: Online PDF Creation, Finished Goods Ordering, Info-Center, Fulfillment, Data Handling, Online-Proofing).

Hiflex is the global technology leader in the area of JDF connectivity and maintains close partnerships with leading manufactures in the graphic arts industry. Hiflex is a Networked Graphic Production (NGP) Partner and CIP4 Partner Member. In the 2005 CIP4 International Printing Innovation Awards Hiflex won in two out of the three categories and was given an exclusive honorable mention in the third. These results were repeated exactly in the 2006 awards, further demonstrating how Hiflex continues to lead the field in real-world JDF. Today, Hiflex has conducted more JDF installations than all other MIS vendors combined.

Hiflex software is in use worldwide and available in 24 languages. Hiflex reinvests around 30% of its revenue in research and development.
