With creative designed by Ogilvy, the two 48-seater Volvo luxury coaches both sport the iconic M-Net
Idols logo and have the line "Our Fourth Judge" emblazoned in giant letters across the side of the bus, with arrows pointing towards the passenger windows. As part of an activation campaign created by Vertex Events, the buses visit various University of Johannesburg and Varsity College campuses each week to generate interest and excitement in the show. Students are then able to sign up to attend the live recording on the Friday when the M-Net
Idols buses will return and transport students to- and from the live event held at the Mosaic Teatro in Fairland.
Commenting on the branded buses, Marketing Executive for DSTV's Mzanzi Magic, Mpho Mashigo says, "The branded M-Net
Idols fan buses form part of a two-month initiative that affords students the opportunity to attend a live recording of the TV show and experience first-hand all that goes on during the live competition. The branded buses not only provide safe transportation for students who wish to attend the live event however, they also form particularly impactful mobile advertising for the show too."
Graffiti Managing Director John Rice adds, "The M-Net
Idols branding is so distinctive and well-recognised and by putting it on two large buses they have created a really powerful impression. The vehicles produce a great deal of hype wherever they go and have become synonymous with the excitement and anticipation behind the show itself."
