Fortune Magazine recently ranked Clear Channel Communications as the fifth Most Admired entertainment company in the publication's annual "America's Most Admired Companies" ranking of industry, financial community and other opinion. This is the third consecutive year that Clear Channel has been named to this prestigious list.
To calculate results, Fortune asked 10 000 executives, directors and securities analysts to rate companies in their own industries on eight criteria using a scale of one to 10. The magazine tracks the results in 64 industries, including foreign firms with large US operations.
In addition to the Fortune honour, Institutional Investor has named CEO L. Lowry Mays and CFO Randall T. Mays as the best CEO and CFO, respectively, in the radio and television broadcasting category for 2004. The magazine polls more than 1300 financial professionals annually.
"I am glad to record that the Clear Channel business in Africa has not only emulated the international Clear Channel success but has performed in the upper quartile of best performing international Outdoor advertising companies within the Clear Channel worldwide stable," says Barry Sayer, CEO of Clear Channel Independent based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
