Expand a Sign's new Ex-Up (or Clickerboard as it is known in Europe) was recently awarded the red dot product design 2009 award. The red dot design award dates back to 1955 and today is the largest and most famous design competition internationally.
The red dot design award is divided into three different categories: product design, communication design and design concept. The testing of the products entered into the competition is carried out by an international design expert jury. These professionals examine and test the products and judge criteria as follows: level of innovation, functionality, ergonomics and environmental tolerance. A total of 3 231 products from 49 nations were judged this year.
“Successful products differ from less successful products because they hold their ground in reality,” explains Design expert Professor Dr Peter Zec, founder of the red dot design award. “A competition such as this gives an idea of the objective perception of experts rather than the more common subjective design decisions in business.” An award of a famous international design competition like the red dot design award is an important indicator of the potential the product has to survive in the market.
Expand a Sign's Ex-Up (or Clickerboard) is now exhibited in the red dot design museum along with the other award winners. The red dot museum houses the largest permanent exhibition (about 1,500 products) of contemporary design worldwide. The Ex-Up will be exhibited along with the other award-winning products until June 2010.
