Brendan Seery writes that there's a battle of the giant political posters going on at the moment in the Joburg CBD. The same can be said of the Cape Town CBD, which was under the media's spotlight from late last week after the #ZumaMustFall banner was erected - albeit illegally - on the highly visible spot above Kloof Street's McDonald's - and removed before the weekend was over.

While most of the debate was negative and even hateful, supporters of the #ZumaMustFall movement deemed the short-lived banner to be "worth every penny", especially as it generated what's estimated to be millions of rands' worth of media coverage.

But the story's not over yet. Last night Twitter lit up again about the controversial billboard spot owned by by Independent Outdoor Media, this time with positive sentiment as it had been filled with a massive version of the SA flag.

Seems this has soothed the gloomy outlook somewhat, as the handful of negative comments dominating Twitter around this were merely along the lines of the flag being hung 'the wrong way around' - but it seems there's actually reason for the red section being on the left and the blue on the right when hung vertically:

It's a refreshing, uplifting change that offers a message of unity - let's see if the social media space agrees!
