Lorge Consulting Services identifies school for book donation programme 2015

Lorge a Sage Premier Partner, established in 1986, have partnered with Qualibooks to donate much needed books and a mobile library to Protempo Akademie, in Centurion.

Accepting the donation on behalf of the school was Annelie Cilliers who is the co-founder and headmistress: "This is a wonderful gift for our school, particularly because of the emphasis we place on reading.

Life skills

Reading is a life skill that lays a strong foundation for all other learning. We encourage our learners through a structured reading programme, to nurture and grow this skill."

The school, which currently has 120 learners from Grade R through to Grade 12, was founded 16 years ago, specifically to assist children diagnosed with ADHD and ADD.

Adds Carlien Thomson, chief financial officer for Lorge: "Whilst we are a technology company, our social responsibility and enterprise development programme is intended to meet the needs of the communities we serve. Reading and books are the cornerstone for learning, and have been a welcome donation since the inception of our programme in 2014."

Despite being a private institution, Protempo Akademie relies on partnerships with and donations from private sector organisations due to lack of subsidies from the government.

"Mainstream schools are not always equipped to manage the learning needs of children with ADHD and ADD, so providing an environment where they can learn in their unique way, was a big reason for developing this school," adds Cilliers.

Lorge has committed to identifying schools and donating much needed reading books to them, and will continue with its partnership with Qualibooks on an annual basis, or as required.

Concludes Kingsley Kruger, Business Development Manager at Qualibooks, "Our goal, in partnership with companies like Lorge Consulting, is to ensure access to quality learning resources for all our children.

Together, we are building our nation, page by page."
