Velvet Sky to fly again

Velvet Sky has reached settlement regarding the BP court application and will be back in the air shortly. Chief executive, Dhevan Pillay, said that South Africa's first 100% BEEE airline had reached financial agreements with service providers, and the agreements had been ratified by the court. As a result, the airline will be able to resume operations.

"As we speak, a revised flight schedule is being put in place and we are looking forward to welcoming passengers on board. We would like to thank passengers for their patience and apologise once more for the inconvenience caused to those who have supported us during this unfortunate period," he said.

The favourable court engagement yesterday (7 March) follows an application by one of the airline's creditors. It was adjourned until 5 March for Velvet Sky to submit opposing affidavits. The court pronouncement ensured that operations to resume as soon as possible, Pillay said.

Pillay said that further details of the revised schedule would be circulated shortly. Meanwhile, Velvet Sky will continue to process refund paperwork. Pillay advised customers to submit their documentation as soon as possible if they had not done so already.
