Condé Nast Traveler rates Cape Town top 2016 winter destination

Cape Town's popularity as a top international tourist destination continues to grow. The city has claimed another top spot, voted number one for the Best Winter Vacations of 2016 by Condé Nast Traveler magazine.

Cape Town beat five other destinations, including Venice, Patagonia in Chile, and Swedish Lapland to take the leading spot for top warm- and cold-weather winter getaways. Cape Town was selected as the number one favourite destination to visit in northern hemisphere’s winter season between December and March.

Condé Nast Traveler noted that Cape Town as a cosmopolitan city has prime weather conditions during this time, with our restaurant, hotel, and nightlife scene at its best, rivaling major European and American metropolises.

These results confirm the city's standing as a leading tourist destination, with more and more people choosing Cape Town a holiday destination of choice.

This year Cape Town was also voted the best city in the world for the fourth consecutive year in the UK Telegraph Travel Awards and voted the number one food city in the world in the Condé Nast Reader’s Choice Awards.

Cape Town's attractiveness continues to grow and this means continued growth in the tourism sector which provides jobs for our people.
