Jacaranda 94.2 will not easily forget November 2008. South Africa's number one independent radio station is over the moon that it is has been the winner of not one, but four stellar industry awards in the last week!
Flagship Just Plain Breakfast Show presenter Darren Scott was named as Radio DJ of the Year at the South African Radio Awards, while his Just Plain Breakfast Show powered by Wimpy, was named as The Most Innovative Radio Show at the South African Radio Awards held at the Sandton ICC in Johannesburg.
Further afield, but just as exciting, was Jacaranda RMFM being named as the Best Local Business of the Year at the Polokwane Chamber of Business Annual Awards. This follows hot on the heels of the station being voted in the Top Three of all radio stations by the influential readers of CEO Magazine.
Jacaranda 94.2 CEO Alan Khan says: "Our commitment, dedication and strategic focus is paying dividends. These accolades bear testament to the outstanding team effort that we put in on a daily basis and the passion of our station's ‘dream team' to drive the strategies of our business and our ability to ‘live' the values of Jacaranda 94.2.”
South Africa's largest independent radio station Jacaranda's 94.2 is already famous for commanding a whopping 2.2 million listeners, who loyally tune into to hear Life's Greatest Hits day after day. But now there's even more reason to sit up and listen to what the station has to say...- more....
Jacaranda has undergone an incredible amount of change and improvement since I was first forced to listen to it at work in 2002. Unfortunately, in 2002 it was the worst radio station I'd ever heard in the previous 50 years. Despite the great improvements, it is still the worst by a huge margin. Repetition HAS been reduced, but it is still completely ridiculous. Somehow, "hit" replays three times in 8 hours and dozens of songs repeated daily like clockwork is deemed acceptable by the clowns in charge "programming". Fortunately, most of the World Cup events are not in earshot of Jac's rubbish. RSA may escape 2010 with a decent image. Posted on 13 May 2010 12:43
