5FM finetunes weekend breakfast show

Following the departure of Ryan O'Connor from 5FM weekend breakfast show (UP)5, Elana Afrika is now co-presenting the show with a variety of celebrity and expert guests. Afrika will also be joined by Gayle Roux on news and Owen Nkumane on sport.

“I live for the weekend! Saturday and Sunday mornings are all about greeting the sunrise, getting ready to have fun... And, then, taking it all to the Power of 5!” enthuses Afrika.

The show's new sport presenter Owen Nkumane, who is also a rugby commentator on SuperSport, earned Springbok rugby colours in 1998 and also played for the Cats in the Super12 and the Lions in the Curry Cup. He was named the Gauteng MEC's Sportsman of the Year in 1999 and was an SABC Sport commentator for the Rugby World Cup in 2003. Nkumane is currently a managing partner in Rugga Kids SA, a rugby skills development initiative offered to schools in and around Gauteng.
