National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) spokesman Craig Lambinon said they were informed at 2pm on Saturday, 15 November, when the Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) reported 23 containers falling overboard from the Seroya Lima ship.

Lambinon said while the NSRI had been placed on alert they were not involved in any attempt to retrieve the containers.

"Arrangements are being made by ports authority to deal with the containers," he said

TNPA spokeswoman Margorie Makama said she was unable to comment.
